Russell graduated from The University of Cincinnati with a Degree in Political Science and holds a Real Estate Brokers License in the State of New York. When he died in 1905, he left 5,000 acres of land to his heirs. The property is named for the Freeman family, specifically, Bruce Freeman, a Black man who amassed thousands of acres of property in the Carolina Beach and Myrtle Grove area following the Civil War. Russell began his career at Metrovest Equities as a Broker, which led to becoming the firms Asset & Property Manager overseeing the company’s one million SF commercial & residential portfolio. The land at Freeman Park has a complex history dating back more than a century. He also oversaw all construction and capital projects including lobby renovations, cooling tower replacements, tenant build outs and pre-built suites. Prior to Time Equities, Russell was a Vice President of Asset Management & Operations for Metropolitan Real Estate Investors, overseeing a portfolio of 3.5 Million SF of office buildings in NY, TX, CA, and OK, including the Lipstick Building (885 Third Avenue), where he handled all financial reporting to investor, lenders and operating partners. Russell has overseen office, retail and residential portfolios throughout the United States and Canada. Prior to PMPM, Russell was an Asset Manager with Time Equities, where he directed the operations of more than 2.5 Million SF of Class-A office, retail and multifamily properties throughout the US & Canada. Russell is an industry veteran with more than 20 years of hands-on asset management & property management experience with various commercial real estate companies. Originally the farm and mill of Patrick (Paddy) Freeman in 1795, the land was farmed by generations of the Freeman family.
